Magic

Like technology, Magic reached its height during the Forgotten War. Eight ‘schools’ of magic exist.

Only one in a hundred has the potential for magics (to include psionics and true faith). Most of these ‘potentials’ go untrained; among the trained, few advance beyond the first two ‘circles’ of magic. About half of them fall prey to various pitfalls of power.

Magic is poorly understood by the average peasant; the slightest evil is often blamed on the nearest mage. Lynchings of mages further deplete the ranks of the learned.
